Europe: the 79% duty changed the math. Quotes should show it.

Since 7 February 2026, a unified anti-dumping duty applies to Chinese ceramic tableware across the EU. That does not make Europe unworkable — it makes vague quotes unworkable. We price EU lines with the duty and VAT stated in or out, and the compliance file built to EC and German benchmarks.

Regulation (EU) 2026/274. From 7 February 2026 the EU applies a unified 79.0% anti-dumping duty on Chinese ceramic tableware, replacing the previous company-specific rates of 13.1–36.1%. The measure faces a legal challenge; we track it and re-state quotes if the regime moves. Tables in the Tariffs & Trade Guide.

HOW WE RUN EU PROGRAMS

Transparency is the product.

  • Duty-explicit quotes. Every EU line states whether the 79.0% anti-dumping duty and VAT are included or excluded (a DAP option). “Maybe” is not a pricing basis.
  • CE and DoC obligations. Directive 2005/31/EC adds CE marking and Declaration of Conformity duties on top of EC 84/500/EEC — the conformity file is prepared as part of the program.
  • Structural glaze choices. Lead-free glaze and underglaze decoration lower lead-cadmium migration risk at the source — the design decision that makes limits easy to pass rather than hard to police.
  • Germany, on the LFGB route. For German retail we plan against LFGB limits, stricter than the EU baseline — the benchmark the German market treats as the gold standard.
FOOD-CONTACT BENCHMARKS

What the program is tested against.

Reports come from third-party laboratories, batch by batch, and are available on request.

EC 84/500/EEC
EU migration limits (4% acetic acid): flatware lead 0.8 / cadmium 0.07 mg/dm²; containers lead 4.0 / cadmium 0.3 mg/dm².

TYPICAL LANES

How EU fulfillment moves.

LaneTypical transitBest used for
Air (China–Europe)7–15 daysSamples, launch stock
Rail (China–Europe)18–35 days, around one-third of air costPlanned replenishment

Transit windows are typical ranges at time of writing, not delivery guarantees; the quote confirms lane and window per shipment.

QUICK ANSWERS

What EU buyers ask first.

Is the 79% duty included in your price?+

Your choice, stated per line: a DDP quote with the anti-dumping duty and VAT included, or a DAP quote with both excluded for your own clearance. We do not quote EU lines with the duty implied or absorbed into a round number.

What extra applies for Germany?+

German LFGB limits (BedGgstV Anlage 14) are stricter than the EU baseline — for Category 1 containers up to 3 L, lead 0.2 mg/L and cadmium 0.02 mg/L. It is treated as the industry gold standard; we can test to it and provide the reports on request.

Will the 79% duty last?+

It replaced company-specific rates from 7 February 2026 and is currently under legal challenge. We track the regime, timestamp quotes, and re-state pricing if the numbers move — you are never quoted on stale assumptions.
